GHOUM silk carpet (Persia), Shah period, mid-20th century Dimensions: 157 x 103cm. Technical characteristics: Silk velvet on silk backing. Density of 420,000 knots per square meter. An oblong, poly-lobed, vegetalized and compartmentalized old rose field supports a mandorla-shaped, anthracite medallion adorned with a rosette, flowering stems and polychrome weeping willows. Four anthracite spandrels, with plants and willows, frame the whole. Two counter-borders, in old gold with garlands of florets, surround the main anthracite border, with floral compositions, starry flowers and weeping willows. Two-tone serrated highlights.
