Silk-encrusted ISPAHAN carpet (Iran), Shah period, circa 1965 Dimensions: 275 x 185cm. Technical features: Wool and silk velvet on cotton backing. A bright red oval field with braces, covered with delicate flowering stems, hosts a magnificent cruciform and poly-lobed floral medallion in navy, ivory and ruby. Vegetal crosses and sublime foliage adorn the whole and its pendants. The four champagne spandrels feature arabesques and multicolored compositions. The navy border with suites of blossoming corollas is flanked by six ivory and champagne counter-borders with polychrome leaves and small cruciform flowers. (Slight wear).
