AMRITSAR silk carpet on cotton chain (India), mid-20th century Dimensions: 291 x 188cm. Technical features : Silk velvet on cotton backing. Four spandrels of flowering stems are set on an ivory field, along with their outgrowths of plant scrolls. The central oval medallion is framed in turquoise and decorated with polychrome flowers. Four pastel counter-borders with undulating leaves surround the main ivory field flower.
