NAÏN carpet (Iran), mid-20th century Dimensions: 285 x 189cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. A multicolored vegetal star medallion sits at the center of an ivory field covered with polychrome floral stems. Quarters of the central motif are used instead of spandrels. Four ivory and royal blue counter-borders, with garlands of florets, enclose the main cream border with polychrome blossoming corollas, set on delicate foliage scrolls. Beautifully elegant.
