MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th, early 20th century Dimensions: 482 x 203cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. An abraché navy field, with tricolored lacework, supports a floral composition seedbed, formed of a multitude of polychrome flower vases. Three borders with changing backgrounds - brick, ivory, sky and chestnut - adorned with multicolored undulating stylized plant garlands, form the frame of this rug. A pleasantly atypical palette.
