KASHGAI carpet (Iran), mid-20th century Dimensions: 249 x 164cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. A wide, oblong, hexagonal, hooked and serrated cherry counter-field, covered with networks of Medes stars, entomic shapes, florets and "S", supports a central, hooked, polychrome medallion with stylized entomic shapes. The anthracite field, covered with small polychrome symbols, hosts four flamboyant ivory hexagonal hooked insect shapes that serve as spandrels. The frame features six apricot, anthracite, ivory and cherry borders with geometric vegetation. Beautiful palette and ethnological graphics.
