BERGAME carpet (Asia Minor), mid-20th century Dimensions: 279 x 219cm. Technical features: wool velvet on wool foundation. A brick field adorned with stylized foliage hosts a large hexagonal navy counter-field highlighted with flowers, supporting two large cruciform corollas of brick, sky, navy and ivory foliage, interspersed with polychrome floral compositions. It is framed by a main ivory border with a succession of Medes stars and multicolored corollas, flanked by two brick counter-borders with garlands of florets. Beautiful chromatic range.
