BOUKHARA carpet (Central Asia), early 20th century - Lot 294
BOUKHARA carpet (Central Asia), early 20th century Dimensions: 302 x 208cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. A brick-red field hosts four columns of twenty-three linked "Tékké" gühls, interspersed with secondary cruciform star-shaped gühls. A very wide border with a series of polychrome rhomboid medallions, star-shaped and "radiating", segmented by small pyramidal "kotchak" shapes, is flanked by four counter-borders with geometric and plant motifs and four tri-color ribbon highlights. Two multicolored "Élems" (reserves) composed of crocheted gühls complete the ensemble. A beautiful ensemble of warm colors.
