KACHAN carpet (Iran), late 20th century Dimensions: 300 x 210cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. A cream and ivory multi-lobed lozenge medallion, with polychrome vegetation and pendants, sits at the center of an undulating oblong counterfield covered with multicolored floral scrolls. The four arabesque sky spandrels framing the whole are set on a pistachio field with small flowers. The main pistachio border features a succession of polychrome corollas hanging from interlacing foliage. It is flanked by two ivory counter borders and four highlights, all six with garlands of flowers. A pleasant, homogeneous set.
