KACHAN carpet (Iran), mid-20th century Dimensions: 367 x 244cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. An oblong ruby field with braces, covered with multicolored floral scrolls, supports a polylobed floral rosette in ivory, navy and sky and its pendants. The spandrels are formed by a stack of four-color plant bands with arabesques. Six delicate ivory and sky floret counter-borders frame the main navy border, covered with "thousand flowers" and blossoming lotus stems.
