SEÏKHOUR carpet (Caucasus), late 19th century Dimensions: 204 x 133cm. Technical features: Wool velvet and wool backing. On a midnight-blue background, two "St. Andrew's crosses" with cruciform, floral, navy and brick medallions and stylized branches take center stage, surrounded by small plants and cross-borders. Two ivory counter-borders, one with "parrots", the other with "eagle heads", frame the main midnight-blue and brick background with a succession of "suns".
