ISPAHAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century Dimensions: 228 x 143cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on cotton backing. A midnight-blue field covered with an indescribable interlacing of coral-colored floral scrolls, supports a large multicolored multi-lobed medallion adorned with four opulent purple peonies. Wide chestnut border with garlands of undulating polychrome flowers, flanked by two anthracite counter-borders with a succession of florets. Two-tone chess pawn highlights. Magnificent palette.
