MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th century Dimensions : 200 x 115cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on cotton foundation. An oblong brick counter field with double niches, where two stylized floral compositions are suspended, supports a curious anthracite crenellated rectangular medallion, covered with a multicolored stylized flower sowing. Anthracite floral spandrels crossing. Two ivory counter borders enclose the main brick, all three being garlands of polychrome flowers.
