MELAYER carpet, (Persia), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 191 x 120cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on cotton foundation. A midnight blue field, decorated with trellises and geometric pastel flowers called "Herati", framed by four ivory spandrels, highlighted brick, jagged, and delicate floral compositions, are enclosed by a main brick red border with scrolls of stylized flowers, flanked by two ivory counter borders with garlands of flowers
