SAMARKANDE carpet (Central Asia), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 290 x 165cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A brick field supports a sowing of multicolored flowering branches, forming a vegetal lattice. A pistachio border with a series of flowering stems, as well as a border with capitals supporting the symbolism of celestial fire, in polychromy, form the frame. Tricolor highlights and mauve braid.
