Rare fragment of a tapestry panel from the Royal Aubusson Manufactory (France), from the middle of the 18th century (Louis XV period) Dimensions : 235 x 130 cm. Technical characteristics : In wool and silk (Very good general condition) "The tea, also called the Chinese snack" This rare fragment of Aubusson tapestry, gives us the chance to see two Chinese servants filling at the source and presenting bowls, to guests here invisible. The scene takes place in the shade of a forest and under a coconut tree. The tapestry, in its entirety, is reproduced on page 206 of Dario Boccara's book "Les belles heures de la tapisserie" and is entitled "le Repas Chinois". The entire scene of this tapestry woven by Picon in the eighteenth century is preserved in the Louvre Museum, the Hanging of the Chinese Feasts, in the suite of the Chinese Hanging by Boucher in Beauvais in 1734. Jean-Joseph Dumons made the cartoons around 1742, which he delivered in 1754 to Jean-François Picon under the name of "Fêtes Chinoises".
