Tapestry from Flanders, from the end of the 16th century Technical characteristics : Wool and silk Dimensions : Height : 278cm ; Width : 177cm Scene of a stag hunt in the undergrowth, for this elegant tapestry where we see a richly dressed rider ringing the olifant, accompanied by his wife riding her steed in amazon. They are in pursuit of a stag attacked by ferocious dogs led by a faun-like hound. Two other hunters are taking part in the hunt. Beautifully colored framing enriched with a blazoned shield. Wide border with garland of flowers and multicolored fruits where various birds are hidden. Nice freshness. (Minor wear and maintenance restoration)
